Late Prof . H S Paul was born in 1934 at Moulara, PO Manglapore, Garbeta. He lost his father at an early age and was brought up by his elder brother, Late Manmatha Nath Paul. Because of his constant support and encouragement, he excelled in education. He was a gold medalist from Jadavpur University, PhD from IIT Kharagpur in Mathematics and worked as a Professor in IIT Madras. Many students have done PhD under his supervision and he was a fellow of Acoustical Society of America (ASA). He visited many countries and was a frequent visitor of ASA (USA). He was the President of Indian chapter of ASA for many years. Furthermore, he established the AFECT, in Chennai in 1998, which was shifted to Taldangra, Fatesingpur, near Garbeta Station in 2009. His main interest was to establish a research and Educational Institute for deaf. At present a research institute in this locality is not practically possible, the trust decided to establish an educational Institute of high standard along with vocational training for the deaf children. Unfortunately Prof. Paul passed away on 1st December 2012.
As a mark of respect, the present trust board is working to fulfill his desire and vision. The trust is interested in establishing an English medium CBSE school up to XII. A Special charitable Center for deaf is also initiated along with other programs to improve physical and mental health of local children, specially deaf kids. The trust invites all local people to be associated with AFECT so that it will be a unique Charitable Educational Institute for our children. The Institute will provide the platform for next generation to build a better career and eventually become responsible citizens of the country.

Mira Memorial Center of Special Education (for Deaf)
AFECT runs a special charitable educational center for acoustically challenged Deaf children on every Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 12 Noon. The Institute is providing speech training with hearing aids/ cochlear machine to needy children of this locality by a qualified trained instructor. This vocational school for deaf is planing special training to these children for stitching, toy making. Emphasis will be given on computer education for Class IX onwards. The institute also aims to organize medical camps from time to time for medical support and regular health awareness program for deaf.
